The Project Backpack initiative is designed to support and assist income-eligible families in the districts to acquire the necessary and grade-appropriate school supplies children need on the first day of school and academic year. The goal of the program is to provide 900 back packs for elementary, middle and high school students. Under the direction of the Office of the Superintendent and in keeping with the Social Justice Commitment of the Amherst-Pelham and Regional Public Schools, Project Backpack aspires toward equity of opportunity, inclusion, respect and community-building in and out of the classroom. New backpacks and supplies will be accepted from June 1-August 31. Donations can be dropped off at the locations listed below. Back packs and supplies will be available for distribution to eligible families in mid-August. Families will be notified of the distribution schedule in late July. Volunteers will be on hand to oversee the distribution process.
